Bruce claims NUFC reject is now training “very, very well” – despite being axed from his squad

Steve Bruce has revealed how well Jack Colback is performing on the training pitch, insisting that he’s ‘not done anything wrong’.

The midfielder missed out on our 25-man Premier League squad and also failed to land any sort of loan move over the summer, but he’s still training with the first-team squad and is said to be impressing.

Here’s what Bruce has had to say about Colback during a chat with Radio Newcastle, stating that he’s been training “very, very well”:

One thing Bruce seems to have done well since he arrived is to keep every single squad player happy and involved in some way.

Rafa’s approach with the likes of Colback and Lazaar was to send them to train with the Academy, but it seems Bruce is keen to make every player feel ‘part of it’ – even if they weren’t selected in his starting 11 (see Shelvey’s recent comments) or included in his 25-man squad.

As for Colback, he may be looking to force his way back into Bruce’s plans, but we’ll be hoping a few cash offers arrive for him in January, with him set to leave on a free next summer if no bids arrive in the new year.
