Klopp makes big Joelinton claim – & has his say on NUFC ahead of Liverpool vs Newcastle

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the press ahead of tomorrow’s big game, and he’s been very complimentary about Joelinton – claiming he’s the ‘perfect’ Rondon replacement.

The German expects us to be a ‘big challenge’, believing we are ‘organised’, ‘difficult to play against’ and a team that will ‘fight like crazy’, as we did in that 1-0 win at Tottenham last month.

Klopp also praised the job Steve Bruce has done so far following Rafa’s exit, but also made some interesting comments about Joelinton – someone he will be familiar with after his rise to form in Germany over the past year.

He believes the Brazilian is the ‘perfect’ Rondon replacement, praising his ability to ‘keep the ball’, his goal threat and his ‘speed’. Intriguing comments given Joelinton has previously been compared to Liverpool’s Firmino!

Here’s what Klopp’s had to say about all things Newcastle ahead of tomorrow’s game:

“Newcastle will fight like crazy. Like they did at Tottenham. They had 20% possession at Tottenham but they deserved the points. This will be a real challenge for us.”

“They had a really difficult summer with Rafa leaving. For Steve, for sure a difficult job…following after Rafa is never easy. He did fantastic so far.

“Maybe the first one against Norwich wasn’t too nice, but close games and good results. Very difficult to play, same style as last year.

“Rondon got replaced by Joelinton. If they were looking for a similar player to Rondon, perfect choice. Really, he can keep the ball, he is a proper threat, he has the speed and all that stuff.

The wingers are quick and they have five at the back, so they are difficult to create chances against and are always ready for counter attacks.

“It won’t be easy. People expect it, probably, but I am really impressed by the solutions they have found so far.”
