According to an ‘exclusive’ from Football Insider, Martin Dubravka will earn £70,000 per week when he signs a new deal at the club in the ‘coming weeks’.
The Slovakian stopper confirmed last week that he was ‘close’ to penning a new improved contract at St James’ Park, and it’s claimed here that his extension will see him become one of the club’s top earners.
He may have made a poor mistake to hand Liverpool a 2-1 lead on Saturday, but he’s been a superb bit of business by the club and one of our most consistent players over the past 18 months.
The 30-year-old was linked with Man Utd, Juventus and PSG over the summer, and many feared he was one of the key players who could have left following Rafa Benitez’s exit, however this new deal should ease any exit fears that may have previously existed.
Dubravka has kept 16 clean sheets in 55 appearances for the club and will be hoping to keep another ahead of Saturday’s crucial clash with Brighton.
I call BS on this one.
70K for a ‘keeper with a struggling premiership side?
Not a chance!
