The club have released pictures of the team in training today, showing Allan Saint-Maximin, Sean Longstaff, Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin all back in action.
There’s still no sign of Matt Ritchie, despite claims he could return for Sunday’s game at Leicester, but there’s several positives to take from the latest snaps from training on Wednesday afternoon.
Saint-Maximin hadn’t taken part in training over the past few days according to the Chronicle, raising fears that he’d aggravated his hamstring on Saturday, however today’s pictures suggest both he and Sean Longstaff OK and firmly in contention to play at Leicester this weekend.
It’s also great to see Florian Lejeune back in first team training after his second ACL injury earlier this year.
Both he and DeAndre Yedlin may not be in contention to play for another few weeks yet, but their return to the grass will have given the team a boost and Bruce some food for thought.
As for the players absent, the Chronicle did state earlier today that Sunday’s trip to Leicester may come too soon for Matt Ritchie, but it’s also worth noting that Fabian Schar and Jonjo Shelvey don’t feature in any of the club’s photos from Wednesday’s session:
