Shocking stats prove why Bruce’s start to the season is incomparable to Benitez’s in 2018

Comparing Rafael Benitez and Steve Bruce is like comparing a Ferrari with a run down Corsa with flat tyres.

There have been many people pointing out that Newcastle are in a better position than they were this time last year. Points wise, yes. Everything else is a complete and utter disaster.

Rafa’s Newcastle conceded three or more goals on just four occasions during the whole of last season, yet we’ve already done this THREE times in SEVEN games so far this season. Ominous.

Moreover, Newcastle have spent just 84 of 630 minutes ahead this season, only Watford have a worse record. The Magpies’ stats are worrying to say the least:

To make matters worse, of the manager’s to have managed 300 or more games in the Premier League, Bruce has the worst win ratio of 27.8%.

Newcastle may well be three points better off than they were a year ago, however, they no longer have a manager good enough to turn their season around.

Bruce and Newcastle are sprinting towards relegation, the very fact relegation had been mentioned in late September shows the sorry state Newcastle are in.

Benitez had a detailed plan for every opposition, Bruce looks out of his depth and confused. The only lifeline Newcastle could possibly have is if they change manager before it’s too late.

  1. The win ratio is clearly driven by the poor clubs Bruce has managed in the PL rather than his ability to manage per se. Pointless stat but typical of what this blog has become, purely a mechanism to spread negativity.

  2. Spread negativity! Are you for real mate, what exactly is positive at the moment?
    1)clueless manager
2)manager has a lower points record than Jokeinear
    3)no shots at goal
    4) squad is paper thin esp midfield
    5)no creativity in the side
6)7 formations tried already, time to go back to 541, 523
7)bottom of the table for just about everything
    8) where are the goals gonna come from?

  3. What absolute garbage!

I’m pretty sure that when we get to the end of the season the FA are not going to say “Well Newcastle actually finished 14th but were going to relegate them because of their possession and passes in the box stats.

Its points mate, and regardless of any other stat you can come up with thats what decides who goes up and down (yeah yeah yeah – and goal difference).

HOw can hyou possibly say we are worse off when we have more points than this time last season?

Absolute -anti-Ashley Bruce hating tosser of an attempt at an argument.

Maybe you think we were better off last year because Rafa had a beard?
Or the food was better, or the grass was greener?

    Absolute ****e

  4. Things are desperate, agreed but ultimately not being behind the manager and the team will get us relegated. Those in a position to influence repeating the same old statistics about Bruce’s shortfalls (particularly those which purely reflect the ****e teams he has managed) doesn’t help in my opinion and won’t help the atmosphere at matches, which in turn won’t help the players. I personally preferred the blog when it was more objective.

  5. These posts are just nonsense and twisting stats to prove a meaningless point.

We have more points than we did last year, give Bruce a break and support the team instead of trying to create negativity.

You would think we played flowing football under Benitez, yes tactically he may have done a job, but we were awful to watch then as well.

Yes he won a CL at Liverpool but would hardly say he set the world on fire at Newcastle, he kept us up but really delivered no more than that, which is surely the minimum expected.

He chose to chase the money in China whilst using the shield of Ashley to cover his tracks.

Get behind the team and stop using pointless stats to create negativity!!

  6. To those suggesting this post is ‘nonsense’ and just done to spread ‘negativity’, can you honestly say you feel more confident of staying up this season (with more points at this stage) than you did last season under Rafa?
