NUFC player has ‘quietly emerged’ as ‘key figure’ in the dressing room – & is ‘admired’ by Bruce – Report

According to the Chronicle, Fabian Schar has ‘quietly emerged’ as a key figure in the dressing room at Newcastle United.

The silky defender has gained a lot of praise for his ability on the pitch, but it’s claimed that Bruce ‘admires’ his ‘straight talking’ approach off it.

Here’s what Ciaran Kelly has had to say about the Swiss international during his latest piece for the Chronicle:

“Bruce admires Schar and it’s not just because of what he can do on the ball or how he loves joining in with shooting practice at training,”

The Switzerland international is a straight talker and has quietly emerged as a key figure in the dressing room who is not afraid to speak his mind.”

Considering we looked a side woefully short of communication and leadership at Leicester last weekend, it’s good to hear some of our more experienced players are stepping up in the dressing room.

That being said, it’s time for the likes of Schar and co to find their voices on the pitch, with us looking timid and in total disarray for several weeks now.

Man Utd on Sunday represents the perfect opportunity to bounce back in front of a frustrated crowd at St James’, however it’s also a time for strong characters given how damning it would be to lose to a side that have failed to win or keep a clean sheet on the road in their last 9.
