Brutally honest Man Utd fan reveals what he made of NUFC & the Longstaff brothers

After speaking to him prior to the game for our ‘Opposition Opinion’ feature, we’ve reached out to Man Utd fan @AshBoio once again to get his take on Sunday’s game at St James’ Park.

It was yet another dismal away day from a Red Devil perspective, but we were keen to find out what he made of Newcastle’s performance and the Longstaff brothers – especially when Sean was a serious summer target for Solksjaer just a few months ago:

Here’s what he had to say during our post-match chat:

“I thought you were fully deserving of the win.

You moved the ball with a lot more intent than we did despite us having more of the ball and the goal was a fantastic move.

“Sean (Longstaff) had a fairly decent game but Matty (Longstaff) was immense.

He bossed our midfield. That’s not always hard to do at the moment the way we’re playing, but he deserved his goal..and it was a cracker. I was impressed with both brothers.

“Schär was always there to cause us problems when we went forward and Saint Maximin always looked like a threat going forward and carried the ball well.

“Hopefully it can be the start of a good run for you lot and you can get some decent points to keep you up this season.”

A very fair and generous response from Man Utd fan Ash given how much he must’ve been hurting after yet another away defeat for his side.

You can’t take away from Matty’s debut display, Bruce’s tactics or the disciplined and dedicated performance we put in all over the pitch, but they really were hopeless.

Nevertheless, it’s our first home win of the season and a much improved performance full of heart, organisation and energy – something we’ve lacked in so many games this season.
