Ex-NUFC boss speaks out after Sunderland fans urge him to replace sacked Jack Ross

Sam Allardyce has admitted there’s “no chance” he’ll be returning to Sunderland following the sacking of Jack Ross.

This comes after several Sunderland fans urged the club to bring back the 64-year-old after Ross’ sacking was confirmed earlier this week, however it looks like a non starter.

Here’s what Big Sam has had to say live on talkSPORT this week, confirming that it ‘wouldn’t be right’ to return to the League One side:

So, it looks like we’re not the only ones to be turned down by Big Sam this year!

Sky Sports have actually revealed this morning that the Mackems have ‘requested permission to speak to 5 managers currently in work with other clubs’ – and it’s believed that Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth is one of those.

Here’s the latest list of favourites from Sky Bet, with Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel currently leading the way:

  • Daniel Stendel 7/4
  • Paul Cook 4/1
  • Gareth Ainsworth 4/1
  • Kevin Phillips 7/1
  • David O’Leary 8/1
  • Mick Harford 10/1
  • Gary Rowett 14/1
  • Phil Parkinson 14/1
  • Roy Keane 14/1
  • Nigel Clough 16/1
