The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas has revealed that Jarrod Bowen’s name “keeps getting mentioned” to him ahead of the January transfer window, suggesting a move for the Hull winger could be on the cards.
The 22-year-old winger has been regularly linked with a potential move to St James’ Park this year, with Douglas claiming that he’s a player who ‘ticks all the boxes’ and someone we’ve been ‘monitoring for a while’.
Here’s what he had to say when asked about our January transfer plans during the Chronicle’s latest Q&A:
“Jarrod Bowen of Hull City keeps getting mentioned to me and he’s someone the club have been monitoring for a while,”
“He ticks all the boxes: he’s young, talented and Newcastle can offer him first-team chances.”
Bowen was regularly linked with a move to Tyneside over the summer, however it was reported after the window closed that we were not prepared to go near Hull’s £20m asking price.
That price may have to come down somewhat if we’re to get our man, but I can’t see Hull budging based on his form in the second tier.
He bagged 22 goals last season and has started this one in decent form too, bagging 4 goals and 2 assists in Hull’s opening 11 games.
One to watch ahead of the January window?
