According to the Scottish Sun, Newcastle United are interested in highly-rated Hearts talent Aaaron Hickey.
The report claims that club scouts watched the left-back during their 1-1 draw with Rangers at Tynecastle, however it seems we weren’t the only ones, with officials from Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Southampton also said to be present.
Hickey is just 17-years-old, but has been a regular in the Hearts side ever since making his debut in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park last season.
Manchester City have also been linked with the Scottish talent, but it seems talent spotters on Tyneside are trying to steal a march on our Premier League rivals.
QPR have been linked with a £1.5m bid, appearing to be another side who want to get in ahead of some of the Premier League big boys tracking the youngster, however Hearts are expected to demand significantly more for their top talent.
A 17-year-old full-back isn’t what we need right now to fix our clear attacking issues, but Hickey is a no doubt a player that’s made for Mike Ashley’s transfer blue print, so it’s no surprise to hear we’re tracking him.
Here’s a clip of him scoring a late winner in the Edinburgh derby last month:
