Worrying Fabian Schar injury update emerges – This could be devastating for NUFC..

According to a worrying update from the Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson, Fabian Schar “damaged his knee ligaments” in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea.

The NUFC reporter does state that the full extent of the injury is yet to be revealed by the club, but suggests the Swiss international is already an early doubt for games against West Ham and Bournemouth over the coming weeks.

This comes after confirmation that both he and Andy Carroll will miss Sunday’s game with Wolves, although Wilson stresses that Schar’s injury is the ‘most concerning’ of the two – as Carroll’s groin problem is NOT believed to be serious.

For now we’ll have to wait and see (and keep everything crossed in the mean time!), but it would be absolutely devastating if the damage to Schar’s knee ligaments is serious.

He’s arguably our best player and someone whose influence from the back is invaluable, with him not only being strong defensively but brilliant with the ball at his feet.

Without him we struggle to play out from the back. He’s almost a defender and deep-lying playmaker rolled into one, so let’s hope and pray this one is not serious.
