According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign former striker Papiss Cisse.
The same report also claims that the 34-year-old is available for just £3m, with his current deal with the Super Lig side being set to expire next summer.
Cisse is currently the top-scorer in Turkish football with 9 in 9 for Alanyaspor, and still believes he could do a job in the Premier League according to TEAMtalk – who say his agents have offered him to a host of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle.
The former Newcastle star also bagged 16 goals in 26 games for Alanyaspor last season, so still knows where the back of the net is, but bringing him back to the Premier League at this stage of his career doesn’t make much sense, even on the cheap.
Would you take him back in January? And would Mike Ashley sanction the signing of a 34-year-old if these left-field rumours are true? I have my doubts..
It would make more sense than it did bringing Carroll back.
At least the lad is still free scoring where Carroll wad effectively finished…!
