NUFC re-sign former Arsenal talent just 5 months after he was released on a free – Report

The Chronicle have confirmed this afternoon that Newcastle United have re-signed former Arsenal talent Stefan O’Connor.

The long-haired centre-back was released by the club over the summer after a injury riddled 2019, but he’s now been handed a second chance at St James’ Park.

O’connor, 22, is currently sidelines with an injury, however Lee Ryder has confirmed this afternoon that we’ve re-signed him on a short-term deal, meaning he’ll return to the U-23 fold once he’s fully fit.

The 6ft 2′ defender had spells training with the first-team during Rafa Benitez’s reign, making his release over the summer a slight surprise.

Walsall, Blackpool, Coventry and Fleetwood were all ‘battling’ to sign him on a free in June according to the Chronicle, however he’s now back for a second stint at St James’ Park.

Who he’ll be playing under at U-23 is anyone’s guess, however, with the club confirming earlier today that Neil Redfearn has resigned after a ‘row’ with a member of his coaching team was reported last night.
