Journalist claims these 2 first-team players will leave NUFC next summer

According to North-East reporter Ian Murtagh, both Javier Manquillo and Ki Sung-yeung will be released next summer as the club look set to allow their contracts to run down.

This comes from his latest piece for the Daily Star, which also sees him place Rob Elliot in the same category, suggesting at LEAST three senior players will be leaving on a free once the 2019/20 season draws to a close.

He’s not mentioned, but Jack Colback is another who’s expected to leave once his contract runs out next summer. The likes of Federico Fernandez and Karl Darlow are also entering the final six months of their current deals, however it remains to be seen if the club will hand new deals to the duo. Considering the Argentinian is currently impressing in the first-team and the fact we’d be VERY short on senior goalkeepers when Elliot leaves, I wouldn’t be surprised if both earned short-term extensions.

Back to Manquillo and Ki, the former is currently our third choice right-back while the latter appears to be behind Hayden, Shelvey and both Longstaff’s in Bruce’s midfield pecking order, meaning the duo may even pursue potential January exits.

If not – and it would make sense for all parties, allowing us to get a fee – it seems they’ll be leaving on a free next summer along with long-serving stopper Rob Elliot.

Would you keep any of them, or is it time they moved on?
