Mark Lawrenson is backing Bournemouth to win 2-0 and come away with all three points ahead of their trip to Tyneside this weekend.
The BBC pundits key reasoning is the fact he “always backs them (Bournemouth) to score” – but says the “same cannot be said for Newcastle”.
I can see why he says this in a way, with Bournemouth duo Wilson and King involved in a combined 10 goals this season (8 goals and 2 assists), while Joelinton, Saint-Maximin and Almiron have just 1 goals and 1 assist between them, however recent results don’t back up his comments.
Bournemouth have blanked in FOUR of their last SIX games, scoring as many goals in that period as we did in our 3-2 win at West Ham on Saturday alone.
We are the second lowest scorers this season, but the signs suggest things are finally starting to click in the final third for us – while the Cherries have been tightening up at the back but struggling for goals.
Here’s what Lawro’s had to say during his weekly set of Premier League predictions for the BBC:
‘Bournemouth got a really good result against Manchester United last weekend, and I have them down as quite a streaky team – in that they tend to have bursts of good form.
‘The Cherries have also kept three clean sheets in a row now, which is important for them because I would always back them to score.
‘The same cannot be said for Newcastle. The Magpies played well when they beat West Ham, but I don’t see them building on that result.‘
Lawro’s prediction: 0-2
Hopefully their run of clean sheets comes to an end this weekend and we can continue from where we left off at the London Stadium.
How do you see the game panning out on Saturday?
