January bid imminent as West Brom plan to do another deal with NUFC – Report

Accoding to the Chronicle, sources in the Midlands believe West Brom will make another loan bid for Dwight Gayle in January.

This could mean a potential return to the Hawthorns for the 29-year-old, who hit 24 goals in 42 Championship appearances for the Baggies during a loan spell last season.

That said, it remains to be seen if Steve Bruce would be willing to let the rarely-seen forward leave in the new year.

The Newcastle boss has spoke highly of the striker ever since he took the job in July, insisting he’s a player he’s tried to sign in the past, however his game time so far this season has been limited to say the least.

He’s failed to start all season, partly due to the fact he’s been suffering with a niggling calf injury, but it says a lot that he’s featured for a grand total of 5 minutes from the bench since returning in early October.

One to watch in January? I think Bruce would prefer to keep him, however a move away may make sense for all parties if it allows us to sign a superior replacement in the new year.
