Journalist claims NUFC are “in talks” to sign January target – & reveals our competition..

According to Swiss journalist Giacomo Moccetti, Newcastle are “currently in talks” with Arsenal outcast Granit Xhaka.

The reporter confirms that Serie A giants AC Milan are also talking to the midfielder, but believes a move to St James’ Park may be his “simplest solution”, giving him a chance to remain in England.

Here’s what Moccetti has had to say during an exclusive interview with Pianeta Milan:

“I can confirm that Newcastle and Milan are the two teams that are currently in talks with Xhaka.

The first would logistically be the simplest solution because he would stay in England and in a league he knows.

I’m sure Bruce would love to bring Xhaka to Tyneside in January, especially if a loan deal could be agreed, however I have serious doubts about this one.

Luke Edwards (The Telegraph) confirmed our interested yesterday and insisted it’s a deal Bruce has been told could happen, adding fuel to the fire, but he also confessed that AC Milan are the current favourites for his signature.

If he prefers to stay in England then we could be in poll position, yet I can’t help but wonder if we’ll be willing to pay what will almost certainly be huge wages. After all, he was Arsenal’s captain this time last month!

Not only do I question our ability to break our transfer blueprint and sign him, I wonder quite how he fits in.

He could improve us, but what would his arrival mean for Shelvey, Hayden and the two Longstaff’s?
