According to Sky Sports Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Hatem Ben Arfa’s search for a new club could be ended by Serie A side Genoa.
The former NUFC star has failed to land a new club since being released by Rennes earlier this year, despite sides from France, Spain, Italy and Turkey being linked with moves for the 32-year-old free agent.
His nightmare 2019 could be about to come to an end, however, with Di Marzio claiming that former PSG teammate Thiago Motta – who’s now the manager of Genoa – is trying to sign him.
Alleged moves for Ben Arfa have come and gone on several occasions over the past few months, with a deal with Nantes collapsing earlier this month, however Genoa’s interest could be genuine given they’re 18th and in need of some extra help after an injury to key attacker Christian Kouamé.
To say the Frenchman’s career has been underwhelming is an understatement considering the incredible raw talent he’s demonstrated (albeit sporadically) over the past decade, however it would be nice to see one of our favourite ex-players find a new home after so many months out of the game.
