NUFC want 18-year-old wonderkid with ‘£30m’ potential as club scouts are spotted – Report

Newcastle scouts were spotted watching Monaco’s clash with Bordeaux on Sunday, and it’s now emerged who they were in the stands to watch.

According to the Chronicle, our talent spotters were taking a close look at highly-rated Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile.

The imposing 6ft 4′ centre-back is rated as one of the hottest prospects in France, with Chelsea and Wolves also monitoring the 18 year-old star.

He’s a strong, ball-playing centre back that is already a France under-19 international – and The Chronicle claim we see him as a huge talent who could be worth £30m plus in years to come.

With SIX very capable centre backs at the club, the competition for places is already high. Lascelles will be out until the new year, but both Schar and Lejuene are back from injury, while Fernandez and Clark are in brilliant form, giving Steve Bruce a positive selection headache.

Right now there just isn’t space for another centre back at the club. However, we all know Mike Ashley and Badiashile seems to fit perfectly into his infamous transfer policy.

A young talent with a potentially high sell-on price is an Ashley signing if I’ve ever seen one, and with all our centre-backs 26+, Badiashile could be one for the future.

That said, are we really going to blow a big chunk of our budget on yet another central defender?
