The bookies have released a new set of relegation odds following our dismal defeat at Aston Villa on Monday.
Norwich are still the clear favourites for the drop – despite their impressive 2-0 win at Everton on Saturday – while the bookmakers still believe Watford (who lost 3-0 at home to Burnley) and Southampton (who threw away leads twice at Arsenal to draw) are still more likely to go down than ourselves.
West Ham’s shocking run of form has thrown them into the mix, with PaddyPower now deeming them more likely to go down than Aston Villa:
- Norwich – 2/5
- Watford – 4/7
- Southampton – 13/8
- Newcastle – 5/2
- Aston Villa – 11/4
- West Ham – 10/3
I think we’ll strengthen in January and still just about believe we might be solid enough to stay up, but with Sheffield United shocking us all, Brighton looking better than some expected and Villa outclassing us on Monday, there’s a small group of teams who look set to battle it out between now and next May.
Watford and West Ham may have been deemed ‘too good to go down’ by some over the summer, yet both stink of sides lacking that fight and character to turn it around as things stand.
Which three teams do you see going down this season?
