Miguel Almiron sends new message to NUFC fans ahead of Sheffield Utd clash

Miguel Almiron has praised the support he has received from the Newcastle fans after an up and down year on Tyneside.

The Paraguayan international has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League at times since his move to the North East last January, but delivered his first assist for the club when he set up Jetro Willems’ equaliser against Manchester City last Saturday.

Speaking to NUFC TV, Almiron thanked fans for their support and revealed he is happy with life on Tyneside:

“I am grateful to the fans who have always been right behind me which is always a good thing for us players. I’m happy and content here at Newcastle and I hope to carry on here for a long time to come.”

“I’ve been feeling like I’ve been in good form in recent games and I think both the team as a whole and my team-mates are helping me to improve.”

Almiron had attracted criticism from some sections of Magpies supporters for his lack of end product in front of goal, but the winger insists it is not something he is getting too concerned about and that the goals will come:

“I am very happy that I can I provide assists like this one [against Man City] for the team. I always try to do my best in every single game and bring what I can to the party so the team can keep doing well.

“I just need to get that first goal but you know what’s important – is that the team are playing well. Of course I’d love to get on the scoresheet and I’m really itching to score but I’m not beating myself up over it either.

“The goals will come along whenever they do and it will be at the right moment.”

With his first assist likely to give him a real confidence boost last weekend, let’s hope he can go one better and find the net at Bramall Lane tonight!
