Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has revealed that Allan Saint-Maximin will be missing for ‘a month’ after picking up a new hamstring injury.
The north-east reporter claims Newcastle initially feared that the Frenchman would be out for longer, however it’s still a huge blow to hear that our star winger will be missing until at least mid-January.
Here’s what Downie’s had to say on ASM’s injury in the last few moments:
This comes after the former Nice star limped off holding his hamstring in the closing stages of Sunday’s win over Southampton, with him telling reporters after the game that it was a “bad one” as he limped away on crutches.
This will means he looks set to miss crucial games against Burnley and Crystal Palace in the next 10 days, along with clashes with Man Utd, Everton and Leicester on New Year’s Day.
He’ll also be an early doubt for our FA Cup tie with Rochdale or Boston in the first week of 2020, but may be targeting a return for our clash with Chelsea at St James’ Park on the 15th of January.
A huge blow, with the Frenchman arguably being our most influential player following his return from injury a few months ago.
Get well soon, Allan!
