NUFC have summer bargains ‘in place’ as Steve Bruce eyes injection of power & energy – Report

Steve Bruce already has ‘a few things in place’ ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Chronicle.

The piece claims Bruce has been tracking unnamed players entering the final months of their current contracts, suggesting the club are ready to pounce on a few free agents in 2020.

Ciaran Kelly’s also writes that the NUFC boss is looking for ‘honest’ and ‘physical players’ who will not only cover ground but ‘give their all for the team’, revealing the sort of character and qualities he’s keen to bring to the club.

Here’s a snippet from The Chronicle’s latest transfer piece on Steve Bruce’s transfer plans for 2020:

A few things are already in place and Bruce has kept an eye on those players who are entering the final months of their contracts and who will be available on Bosman deals next summer.

The Newcastle head coach has a clear idea of what he wants: honest, physical players who can cover ground and are prepared to give their all for the team.

One deal that keeps being talked about is Jarrod Bowen. He’s technically due to be a free agent next summer, but it’s been reported that Hull have an option to extend his current contract by another year.

Either way, it’s slightly concerning that both Bruce and Charnley have already given us the ‘January is a difficult window to do business’ lines leading up to the new year, with us needing to focus on the here and now in a bid to stay up before we start lining up potential bargains later down the line.

As for the sort of player Bruce wants to bring in, can you think of anyone who fits that mould?

  1. “January is a hard month to do business” evidently not if you’re Liverpool, Minamino to have medical today.
