Hodgson confirms 6 players out of NUFC clash – but key man set to return for injury hit Palace

If you thought our injury issues were bad, look no further than tomorrow’s opponents Crystal Palace.

Roy Hodgson has been speaking to the press in the last few moments, and has confirmed that he’ll be without SIX first-team players for the game at St James’ Park.

Ex-Mag Andros Towsend will miss out along with Gary Cahill, Jeffrey Schlupp, Joel Ward, Jaïro Riedewald and Mamadou Sakho.

To make matters worse, it’s also been reported that Scott Dan has suffered an ‘injury scare’ in training, meaning he will have a late fitness test to determine whether he can play.

On the plus side for Palace, Hodgson has confirmed that key man Patrick Van Aanholt has trained all week, meaning the former Newcastle loan man could return.

That said, they may be left with just ONE senior centre-back in James Tomkins should Scott Dan miss out, meaning Hodgson may be forced to call on a few of his U-23’s.

Here’s hoping we can take advantage!
