Agent confirms transfer ‘agreement’ – NUFC set to miss out on January target?

If his agents comments are anything to go by, one player we won’t be signing in January is Granit Xhaka.

It’s been reported for several months now that Steve Bruce was pushing to sign the unsettled Arsenal midfielder on loan next month, but agent Jose Noguera has confirmed today that he’s agreed to join Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin.

Here’s what he’s had to say about the Swiss international today, revealing that he’s set for Germany in January:

“I will say it frankly and honestly, we are in agreement with Hertha BSC and would like to go to Berlin.”

This always felt like a long shot, even on loan.

His wages are high and, despite a lack of game time at Arsenal, it always felt like he may have more attractive offers – not that Hertha Berlin is a ‘big’ move for the Gunners’ former skipper.

Another central midfielder would come in handy next month. Ki is on the way out, Sean Longstaff is struggling and Matty may need a loan move, however it looks like we won’t be getting Xhaka.
