NUFC respond to claims club have made ‘€45m’ offer for South American star

According to the Chronicle, we are interested in Brazilian talent Everton Soares – but the club have distanced themselves from claims a ‘€45m’ (£38.5m) offer has been submitted.

This comes after Foot Mercato reported last night that we’d made a loan offer with a view to a £38.5m permanent deal at the end of season for the Gremio star.

Steve Bruce actually revealed in a recent press conference that chief scout Steve Nickson was “in South America on business” and Lee Ryder has confirmed that he’s been watching the 23-year-old in Brazil, but talk of a big money offer has been played down by the club.

The left winger has bagged 15 goals and 7 assists for Gremio this season and has racked up 14 caps for Brazil as a result, with Arsenal and PSG said to have been watching him at this year’s Copa America.

It sounds unlikely, but who knows what we’ll do next after paying big for a similarly talented yet unproven Brazilian just a few months ago!

Here’s him in action for club and country:
