Garth Crooks says this NUFC player should be “docked a week’s wages”

Garth Crooks has slated Florian Lejeune for his performance in our 0-3 defeat to Leicester City earlier this week.

I am a big fan of Lejeune’s and believe Bruce hasn’t done enough to protect him in recent weeks, however there’s no getting away from his disastrous display on Wednesday. Whether you’ve been out 8 months or not, he knows better than to play weak passes across our 18-yard box – and Crooks believes he should be “docked a week’s wages” for his costly errors.

Here’s what the BBC pundit has had to say about the Frenchman:

“James Maddison’s sixth goal of the season and Leicester’s second away at St James’ Park was a screamer and enough to put Newcastle on skid row.

“There is a time for everything in football and players need to know when and when not to play.

“It would seem that Newcastle failed to observe that basic rule against Leicester City.

Florian Lejeune should be docked a week’s wages for playing the ball across his own 18-yard box, the result of which cost his team the first goal and ultimately the match.”

He looked sharp on his long awaited return from an ACL against Palace last month, but looked out on his feet against Everton and should have been protected against Leicester.

Yes we had several centre-backs injured, but Bruce took a real risk – not only on his physical condition but on his confidence levels so soon after returning from 8 months out.

He’s a class act and has recovered from two serious knee injuries over the past 18 months , so I have complete faith he’ll come back stronger after his horror show on Wednesday.

  1. Crooks wants to be very careful calling for people who underperform to be docked wages!! He may find he owes the BBC a lot of compensation!!.

It’s is clear for all to see that the lad isn’t fully fit but being played because needs must.

Yes they were silly passes, but Lejeune is a good player and has been excellent for us since he’s came in.

If Lejuene gets fined for those passes – our forwards get fined for all the sitters they’ve missed … Ashley would have a field day!!.

Though his fine would be the biggest of the lot!!.
