Journalist claims Steve Bruce is now ‘in talks’ to sign £30m striker on loan with option to buy

Yet another striker has been linked with a loan move to St James’ Park today – this time it’s AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek.

This comes from The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who reports that Steve Bruce is ‘in talks’ with the Serie A giants over a possible loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

The Polish international completed a £30m move to AC Milan last January after bagging 19 goals in 21 games for Genoa, and has scored a respectable 15 goals in 38 games since arriving at the San Siroa, however Zlatan Ibrahimaovic’s arrival has put his future in serious doubt.

As a result, Nixon claims that Bruce has now made his move and will sanction a transfer away for Dwight Gayle should he get his man.

Interestingly, the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas revealed in November 2018 that Newcastle scouts were tracking Piatek during his prolific spell with Genoa – so it seems he’s a player the club have been aware of for some time.

With us scoring just 20 goals in 21 league games and in dire need of some firepower up top to lift the pressure off of Joelinton’s shoulders, it’s easy to see why we’re looking at Piatek – although it’s an ambitious deal we’d do VERY well to complete.

One to watch, but I’m not holding my breath.

  1. JAROSLAW NIEZGODA is another prolific Polish frontman from Legia, just 24 young with every game scoring 1-2 goals. Great Game/Goal ratio !

  2. Lift the pressure off Joel Lintons shoulders
Almiron did that by running himself non stop and it was clear how hard he was trying
As for Joel, his reaction when Rochdale scored said it all he knew he could have stopped that break away but sadly he couldn’t be bothered and patience finally ran out for him after that in the away end
