Lee Ryder responds to claims NUFC have made move for Brighton striker Glenn Murray

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has played down reports that Newcastle have made an approach to sign Glenn Murray.

This comes after The Guardian’s Ed Aarons claimed that both ourselves and Aston Villa were looking to sign the 36-year-old striker on a ‘six-month deal’ from Brighton, however these suggestions have been swiftly rubbished.

Here’s what Ryder has had to say in Twitter in the last few moments:

The Brighton Argus have also reported that the club have received ‘no contact’ from any potential suitors for Murray.

We may be in desperate need of new options and goal scorers up top, but it’s fair to say his will be a sigh of relief for Newcastle fans who mat have spat their morning coffee out when links to Murray first appeared this morning.

Silly season is well and truly underway!
