Another day, another transfer link, with it reported this morning that we’ve now submitted an offer to sign Club Brugge forward Emmanuel Dennis.
This comes from Eurosport journalist Manu Lonjon, who claims we’ve ‘just made an offer’ to sign the Nigerian international.
Here’s what he’s tweeted in the last few moments, suggesting we’ve made a move for the 22-year-old:
“Newcastle has just made an offer for Emmanuel Dennis (Bruges)”
Silly season is well and truly underway, with us being linked with players left, right and centre on a daily basis, however it must be said that Dennis fits the bill in terms of the sort of player we’re likely to be looking at this month.
He’s young (22), is a versatile attacker, has bundles of pace (much like loan target Ademola Lookman) and could be available at a reasonable price given he’ll come from one of Europe’s lesser known leagues (who are known for selling their star men around the £10-15m mark).
Dennis – who can play up top or down either flank – has bagged 8 goals and 2 assists already this season, including a brace in Brugge’s 2-2 draw at Real Madrid during their Champions League clash in October at the Bernabeu.
One to watch. He fits the profile of a Mike Ashley signing, yet it would be no surprise to see a journalist closer to home play this on down in the coming hour!
