Newcastle now ‘very interested’ in signing Karl Toko-Ekambi – Le10sport

According to an “exclusive” from Le10sport, Newcastle are ‘very interested’ in signing Villarreal striker Karl Toko-Ekambi.

The French outlet claims both ourselves, West Ham and Lyon are in for the Cameroonian international, stating that the French giants have already had a £12m bid turned down for the 27-year-old this month.

Ekambi has scored 6 goals in 11 league starts for Villarreal so far this season and impressed over their 2018/19 campaign, where he bagged 18 goals and 7 assists in all competitions.

Le10sport claim that the La Liga side are prepared to cash in, but not for a penny less than £21m – and here lies the problem we could be facing should claims of our reported interest be true.

It’s worth pointing out that we were credited with an interest in Ekambi 18 months ago following his 22-goal season with Angers. This was back in May 2018 when The Chronicle claimed he was one of the strikers on our radar, however it’s probably wise to take this latest link with a pinch of salt.

Bruce said we’ve already been linked with 38 players this morning – and it hasn’t taken long for that number to go up to 39!

Here’s Ekambi in action:
