Newcastle United have been ‘offered’ AC Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia, according to reports today.
The 33-year-old is currently out of favour at the San Siro and Diario AS claim both ourselves, Celta Vigo and Norwich City have all been contacted by the player’s agent this week and offered the chance to sign him.
Biglia’s contract at AC Milan is due to expire this summer, meaning he’s set to be available at a cut-price fee this month.
Steve Bruce is said to be keen on signing a new central midfielder this month – so Biglia fits the bill in that respect – however it seems highly unlikely that Mike Ashley’s NUFC make a move for a 33-year-old.
The Serie A midfielder has a wealth of experience, racking up 58 caps for Argentina and almost 500 appearances across spells with Anderlecht, Lazio and AC Milan, but this doesn’t seem like a deal we’re likely to pursue.
He was linked with a move to St James’ Park during his time in Belgium back in 2013, but our transfer policy will most likely reject the chance to have him seven years on.
