Lee Ryder responds to Sissoko rumours – & makes new Lookman claim after loan setback

Lee Ryder has insisted that Newcastle are yet to make any move for Ibrahima Sissoko – despite claims we were in talks to sign the Strasbourg midfielder.

Elsewhere, the Chronicle reporter also claims Newcastle will now have to pay a ‘hefty cash fee’ if they wish to sign Ademola Lookman, with RB Leipzig indicating last night that the winger will NOT be leaving on loan this month.

Ryder insists that Lookman is a ‘genuine target’ of ours, however it seems the club will have to fork out a fee of at least £22m to sign him – the fee Leipzig paid Everton last summer.

Back to Sissoko, the Sun’s Alan Nixon reported earlier this week that we were ‘still working on a deal’ for the £13m-rated Frenchman, however Lee Ryder insists we’re yet to make any move for the 22-year-old.

Our interest isn’t denied, and it’s also worth noting that the Athletic reported that he was a player our scouts have been ‘impressed’ by in Bruce’s search for a new ‘box-to-box’ midfielder, but it sounds like we’re yet to up our interest.

Lots of names linked and plenty key areas to improve, yet it seems like we’re making very few bids.

Hopefully we start to ramp up our search for new signings now Bruce met Ashley for ‘transfer talks’ this week/
