If news of Jetro Willems’ season-ending injury wasn’t bad enough, Sky Sports have now confirmed that Paul Dummett is also set to miss the remainder of the campaign.
This comes from Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, who reports that both Willems and Dummett’s seasons are over:
Steve Bruce did admit after Saturday’s win over Chelsea that Paul Dummett’s injury was a “serious” one, and it’s now believed he suffered a ‘major hamstring tear’ in our recent 1-1 draw at Wolves.
Although Dummett has predominantly played as a centre-back in this season, the loss of both him and Willems mean we’re desperately short of left-backs heading into the second half of the season.
A devastating double blow for Steve Bruce and one that may force us to rethink our transfer plans over the final 12 days of the window.
