Today’s NUFC news and gossip:
- Nabil Bentaleb looks set to join the club on loan (which includes an option to buy), with the Schalke midfielder arriving on Tyneside today for a medical.
- Steve Bruce is ‘hopeful’ Valentino Lazaro will sign in the next ’24 to 48 hours’, confirming talks were held with his agent at St James’ Park over the weekend.
- That said, German outlet BILD claim RB Leipzig are also in the running for the Inter Milan wing-back – suggesting we have late competition for Lazaro’s signature.
- The Daily Mail claim Newcastle have received a double boost in their pursuit of Jarrod Bowen, with the player “desperate” to leave and Bruce’s “long term associate”, Peter Chapman, now involved in the deal.
- According to Foot Mercato’s Sebastien Denis, Newcastle will have the option to sign Nabil Bentaleb for £8.5m at the end of his proposed loan move.
- L’Equipe claim Newcastle United are one of THREE Premier League clubs to have submitted an offer for Lille star Boubakary Soumaré – but the player has suggested he’s going nowhere this month.
