Valentino Lazaro’s agent has confirmed talks with Newcastle United – but says there’s “no agreement yet” for the Inter Milan wing-back to sign at St James’ Park.
Max Hagmayr – the Austrian’s representative – also claims that the Inter Milan wing-back has “other options”, suggesting we are not the only club in the running to sign the 23-year-old this month.
Here’s what he’s had to say during his chat with FCInter1908.it.:
“I was in Newcastle and we had talks, but there is no agreement yet,”
“As for the future, we’ll see what happens over the next few days.
“There isn’t just Newcastle, he has other options.”
So, it looks like a deal is not done yet and we risk losing out on the 23-year-old.
Bruce did state yesterday that he was ‘hopeful’ of signing Lazaro, but also admitted that talk of his move to Tyneside became public sooner than he wanted – and added ‘competition’ for his signature as a result.
Italian and German outlets both report that RB Leipzig are very interested in Lazaro, while the likes of West Ham and Werder Bremen have been linked with the Austrian.
Let’s hope our ‘VIP treatment’ on Saturday and 1-0 win over Chelsea made his agent believe Newcastle is the move for him – although money talks at the end of the day.
Fingers crossed.
