I’ve slept on it but I’m still in utter shock. I’ve never seen a team create so little in 93 minutes of football, yet find two goals in the final 90 seconds to draw a game they looked dead and buried in!
Since then, it’s been hard not to look at the mass hysteria on social media, with Jordan Pickford being trolled by ex-Mag Olivier Bernard, Florian Lejeune being considered or the number 9 shirt and Everton fans in uproar.
On the subject of the latter, here’s a look at what Everton fans were saying on forums (GrandOldTeam) and Twitter after Lejeune’s 94th minute equaliser found its way past a flapping Jordan Pickford:
“Newcastle are an awful side and were awful tonight. Everton defeating themselves these days.”
“Newcastle were the worst team to play at GP this season, well joint worst with Everton and they get a point. We were trying to coast the last ten minutes and guess what? We are rubbish at coasting as well as football.”
“Battered them for 90 minutes. Should have had 4 or 5 goals. Ft. 2-2 . How the hell did that happen“
“Newcastle were and are shocking. Much bigger test in 10 days against a rejuvenated Watford. Be nice to see us go there and stamp our authority like we did for most of tonight.“
“That was the best we’ve played all year, it was a genuine laugh for 92 minutes”
“Defended well all game, apart from injury time. Such a great second half, and Newcastle just got lucky. The most one sided game I’ve seen in a while.“
“You know what? I can’t even really take any comfort in the performance because, let’s face it, it was mainly a byproduct of that Newcastle side being utterly shocking. Any competent team would’ve seen them off by 3 or 4 there with absolutely no dramas.”

“Pickford is awful. Whatever about the second goal, he was useless punching the ball clear from the corner for Newcastle’s first. When will Everton fans and staff open their eyes to how much he is killing us! Pickford is AWFUL!

I reckon Everton were lucky that the extra time ran out before Newcastle could score a third! :l 😆
