Agent makes new Valentino Lazaro claims – despite £20m ‘agreement’ with NUFC..

Just days after his client completed a move to Newcastle United, Max Hagmayr claims Valentino Lazaro’s ‘first choice’ is to make it at Inter Milan – despite us having a £20m option to sign him this summer.

The 23-year-old wing-back completed a loan move to St James’ Park on Friday, with us beating off competition from RB Leipzig for his signature, however his agents latest comments are a little concerning.

Lazaro seems delighted to be on Tyneside and spoke well in his first interview last week, but Hagmayr suggests he doesn’t see his long-term future on Tyneside just yet.

Here’s what he’s had to say during a chat with FCInterNews this week:

“The player’s first choice is to go back to Inter.

With more time available he wants to demonstrate that he can help the Nerazzurri club to win the Scudetto.”

“Newcastle have been very serious in moving the deal forward and we are happy with how it all went: we are satisfied.

Steve Bruce is very happy to have Valentino with him.”

Considering we have the chance to sign him for £20m at the end of his loan deal – something we can activate if he does impress – these comments seem poorly timed from Hagmayr.

His client has only been at the club a matter of days and is yet to play, yet he suggests he may only be here to boost his chances of making it at Inter.

That said, if he impresses so much that we want to sign him this summer, he’ll be obliged to join a club that’s not his ‘first choice’.

Time will tell, but it’s not exactly what you want to here from an agent before your new signing has even kicked a ball for the club..

  1. I wasnt overly convinced he was happy to be here watching his interview. Got the impression he was here for himself and as he had assurances re playing time.
Everone out for themselves i guess amd if he does well so should the team. We’ll see. But get the impression he thinks hes above NUFC
