Hatem Ben Arfa looks set to finally land a new club this week, with Eurosport France claiming he’ll sign for La Liga side Real Valladolid.
The former Newcastle United star has been out of the game for almost 8 months now, having been released by Rennes last summer.
He’s been linked with a whole host of moves since then, with clubs in France, Italy, Turkey and Qatar all credited with interest, but it looks he’s now all set for Spain.
This comes from Manu Lonjon, who claims the 32-year-old arrived in Madrid at 12:30p.m today and sign a contract with the club on Tuesday to officially make him a Real Valladolid player.
To say the mercurial Frenchman is a wasted talent is an understatement. His ability to beat a man, create something from nothing and wand of a left foot was breathtaking to watch at times during his spell at St James’ Park, but a lack of discipline, a poor attitude and injuries have allowed the career of a potentially world class talent to fizzle out.
That said, it’s good to hear he may have finally found himself a new club.
Hopefully it’s done and dusted tomorrow and he shows Spain what he’s capable of.
