NUFC ‘interested’ in 35-year-old striker – & he’s keen to seal Premier League return – Dubious report

According to a dubious ‘exclusive’ from The Sun, Newcastle United are interested in signing Emmanuel Adebayor on a short-term deal.

The former Arsenal, Spurs, Man City and Real Madrid striker is currently a free agent after leaving Turkish club Kayserispor last month and is said to want one last crack at the Premier League, with Aston Villa and Brighton also keen.

We may need an experienced striker who’s proven at this level, but Adebayor is now 35, with his best days well behind him.

Here’s what a friend of the Togo international has told the Sun, revealing a few reasons why he’d be keen to secure a move back to England:

“He has 97 goals and is keen to reach 100 Premier League goals.

“He also wants to pass his close friend Didier Drogba’s record of 104 goals in the Premier League to become the all-time top African top scorer in the Premier League.”

Either this is a load of rubbish or Steve Bruce is really being forced to scrape the barrel in his bid to sign another striker.
