Player NUFC were ‘in talks’ to sign by Friday’s deadline agrees move elsewhere – Report

According to reports in Spain, Newcastle look set to miss out on Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer.

Both the Sun reported on Saturday night that we were ‘in talks’ to sign the Spaniard on loan, with the Northern Echo then claiming on Monday that we were hoping to ‘push through’ a deal before Friday’s transfer deadline, but it looks like he’s set to join Valencia instead.

This comes from Spanish outlet SPORT, who report that Valencia have now struck a deal with Dortmund to sign the striker on loan for the remainder of the season:

The former Barcelona forward was always an ambitious target, with him not only prolific for his country, scoring 12 in 19 for Spain, but also bagging an impressive 26 goals in his last 47 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.

Not only that, a move to Valencia side – who are not only in the last 16 of the Champions League but in the race for a top 4 finish in La Liga – was always likely to appeal to the Spaniard.

With just a few days left to do business, who would you like to see us turn to next if we’re looking to bring in a striker on loan until the end of the season?

  1. I still think the fat man will be the owner next year. He will use the not being able to get free run on advertising and shop sales. Which is what he really wants.
Or his greed will get the better of him and demand more for this that and the other.
He has made big bucks from the club which has been his cash cow for all these yesrs.
