Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has shared a takeover update late on Tuesday night, and it’s pretty promising.
Graves claims Amanda Staveley is finally able to meet Mike Ashley’s asking price now she’s secured the backing of a sovereign wealth fund – also revealing that the buying group are able to put down the full deposit the NUFC owner has been demanding.
Perhaps more importantly, Graves insists that Ashley is ready to sell, saying his lawyers working behind the scenes and the Staveley-led consortium are ‘ready to buy the club’.
Here’s the update he sent to Newcastle United fans on his Instagram account:
He advises patience ahead of a ‘critical’ few ‘hours/day’, but paints a pretty promising picture here – not that anyone should be getting carried away just yet given the. amount of times we’ve been burnt.
The Sky Sports presenter – who’s Newcastle fan – has been reluctant to give away any ‘news’ or ‘updates’ on takeover talk recently in fear of building up fellow supporters hopes, so let’s hope him speaking out here is a sign he believes there’s finally something in this one.
