Danny Rose has arrived on Tyneside to complete a loan move from Spurs, but it looks like we may have just missed out on Jarrod Bowen.
According to the Mail’s Craig Hope, Crystal Palace have now agreed a £16m fee (plus add ons) to sign the Hull City star.
The 23-year-old has been described as Steve Bruce’s ‘top target’ for months, but it looks like we could be about to miss out on the Championship goal machine:
It has been reported for some time that we were reluctant to pay Hull’s asking price – and it seems us twiddling our thumbs over a few million has cost us late in the day here.
Bowen has scored 38 Championship goals in the past 18 months and was said to be keen on a move to St James’ Park, with Steve Bruce being the man who brought him to Hull several years ago.
The three loan deals we look set to complete all seem like shrewd pieces of business, but this could be one we really live to regret – especially at a fee of £16m (which is very little in this day and age for a talented young English goal scorer).
Pathetic. Without goals, from somewhere, we could still go down!

Well done NUFC, got 3 loans in, however, when it comes to spending money on players, we fiddle while Rome burns

Loan deals for others’ discards might help us but once more we quibble over a young, English goal scorer while that giant club – Palace- pay the asking price and buy quality. We are a laughing stock.
The latest takeover is yet another smokescreen. Brace yourselves for a relegation struggle!!

Another non descriptive Transfer window no new players purchased why??? Loan Deals only ?? why??? Steve Bruce turns down alleged 60mill kitty and tells Ashley he does not need to spend any of it Why???
Is this the same Bruce who has massive injury problems and could get relegated but is singing from the same hymnsheet provided by ASHLEY &CO

If we get Danny Rose (which seems likely) AND a striker then I would say it was a very good window. Loans are a great way to try before you buy, I bet everyone wished we’d done that with Joelinton.
