Celtic have approached Newcastle over a deadline day deal for Christian Atsu, according to Keith Downie.
The Sky Sports’ reporter claims Nottingham Forest are also in the running for the Ghanaian, but it looks like the SPL giants have now made their move over a potential loan deal.
This comes a few hours on from Blackburn’s failed bid to sign the winger on loan, with the likes of Fulham and West Brom also linked with the 28-year-old.
It’s worth noting that the deadline in Scotland is midnight, meaning Celtic would have an extra hour to tie up a potential deal for Atsu.
With reports claiming Bowen now wants to join Newcastle (yet the Athletic reporting that we’re yet to make a move), could a deal for the Hull City winger hinge on us moving Atsu on? Wishful thinking, perhaps.
The Mail’s Craig Hope has since confirmed Celtic’s interest in Atsu, but admits wages are ‘likely’ to be an issue.
