Sky Sports: NUFC reject deadline day bid – 3 players in talks to leave but 1 set to stay

Sky Sports have confirmed that Newcastle United have rejected a late bid from Blackburn Rovers for Christian Atsu.

It’s been widely reported that the Ghanaian is free to leave should the right offer arrive, with Nottingham Forest, West Brom and Fulham also linked, however it seems Blackburn’s opening offer has been knocked back.

Elsewhere, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie claims Ki Sung-yeung and Rolando Aarons could yet find new clubs today, but says one player who won’t be going anywhere before the 11pm deadline is Dwight Gayle:

So, as we approach the final 8 hours of the January transfer window, it seems like there’ll be no more incomings but could be one or two outgoings.

As for Atsu, it remains to be seen if Blackburn’s offer was a loan bid or cash offer over a potential permanent deal.

Ki is clearly out of Bruce’s plans and needs a move, but it seems his wage demands have been an issue so far.

As for Aarons, he may just be looking for a club who’ll take a chance on him following his return from Wycombe earlier this month.
