Four NUFC youngsters set for FA Cup appearance after missing U-23 win on Monday?

Newcastle U-23’s won convincingly on Monday, but there were FOUR notable absentees from the squad that won 4-0 at Swansea.

Young foursome Tom Allan, Jack Young, Ludwig Francillette and Liam Gibson – who are regulars at U-23 level – all missed the convincing win in Wales, suggesting they may well be part of Steve Bruce’s squad set to face Oxford tonight.

That said, there’ll be no Elias Sorensen and Lewis Cass featuring in tonight’s cup game on BBC One, with both featuring (and Sorensen scoring) yesterday.

NUFC U-23 players involved in our 4-0 win at Swansea yesterday: Turner, Cass, Swailes, McEntee, Walters (c), Barrett, Anderson, Rounsfell, Longelo, Wilson, Touré. Substitutes: Oliver, Harker, De Bolle, J. Scott, Sørensen.

Both Young and Allan are believed to have travelled, but it remains to be seen if French giant Ludwig Francillette and local lad Liam Gibson make it.
