According to the Sun, Newcastle are preparing to make a £15m bid for Brentford star Said Benrahma this summer.
The Algerian international is one of the Championship’s most exciting talents and has been strutting his stuff once again this season, leading the Bees’ promotion charge with 8 goals and 6 assists from out wide.
That said, his impressive form means we’re not the only Premier League club looking to sign him this summer, with the Sun reporting that Leicester City are also keen.
Benrahma, 24, bagged an outstanding 11 goals and 17 assists last season and scored a hat-trick in Brentford’s 5-1 demolition of Hull City just last weekend.
Considering we were clearly unwilling to pay the £20m asking price for fellow Championship star Jarrod Bowen (who’s now at West Ham), Brentford’s asking price in all of this could be key.
They’ve been known to cash in one their top players – with Maupay (£19m), Mepham (£12m) and Konsa (£11m) all leaving for the Premier League over the past year – but it may be a different story if they manage to earn promotion over the coming months.
A mercurial talent and exciting player who’s far too good for the Championship based on what I’ve seen of him over the past 18 months.
If Brentford fail to go up, this could be one to watch – with this not being the first time we’ve been linked with a move for the winger.
