Journalist claims NUFC are eyeing Champions League striker who bagged brace at Real Madrid

According to leading Belgian outlet HLN, Newcastle are scouting Club Brugge star Emmanuel Dennis.

This comes from their European football correspondent Kristof Terreur, who claims ourselves, Dortmund, Watford, Sheffield Utd, Monaco and Sampdoria have all sent officials to watch the 22-year-old talent this season.

Dennis – who can play out wide or up top – has bagged 8 goals this season, including a Champions League double at Real Madrid in October last year.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been linked with a move for Dennis, with it reported at one stage last month that we’d made a £25m bid for the Nigerian international.

That said, the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder quickly responded, stating rumours of a big money bid were wide of the mark ‘at this stage’ – but did not completely deny our interest in the Brugge star:

While he doesn’t look like an out and out striker (something we badly need), his pace, age and potential suggests he’s the sort of player we’ll be targeting this summer after failed ‘attempts’ to sign Jarrod Bowen and Ademola Lookman last month.

Here’s Dennis’ Champions League brace at the Bernabeu earlier this season:
