According to 90min.com, Newcastle United are showing interest in AZ Alkmaar star Myron Boadu.
The 19-year-old has been one of the Dutch league’s outstanding players this season, bagging 19 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.
He’s scored 13 goals and 8 assists in 22 Eredivisie appearances, also weighing in with an impressive 4 goals and 2 assists in 6 Europa League displays against – helping Alkmaar to progress to the knockout stages in Europe and inspiring them to within just 3 points of league leaders Ajax.
Boadu looks an exciting young talent – and scored on his debut appearance for the Dutch national side last year – yet the signing of another promising but inexperienced youngster is arguably the last thing we need right now.
After all, we signed a promising Brazilian from a stronger German league last summer and he’s being ruined – so it’s hard to see a youngster from Holland hitting the ground running in a side that doesn’t look like they know how to attack under Steve Bruce.
That said, the fact Arsenal are also believed to be showing interest suggests we’d face stiff competition this summer should he prove to be a firm target.
Sadly, we can sign all the young talent we want, but I have no faith in them coming good if the team continues to be set up so poorly.
Will not happen
