Newcastle ‘interested’ in French striker with 25 goals & 17 assists this season – Report

According to the Daily Record, Celtic star Odsonne Edouard has ‘attracted interest’ from Newcastle United.

The striker has been in stunning form this season, being involved in 42 goals in just 41 appearances so far (25 goals and 17 assists) – also bagging 11 goals in just 6 appearances for France U-21’s.

This follows his 22-goal season last term and comes after Steve Bruce’s son (Alex) admitted last week that he’d told his dad to bring him to Tyneside after seeing for himself just how good he’s been in the SPL this season.

Graeme Young’s piece for the Daily Record states that Manchester United, Everton and several ‘top clubs on the Continent’ are also keen on the striker, who’s expected to leave for a fee in the region of £30m this summer.

The 22-year-old has 5 goals and 5 assists in 12 appearances across European competitions this season, while his 20 goals and 10 assists in the league have helped Celtic gain a 12-point lead over Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League.

He fits the bill in terms of age, potential and position – with us badly needing a goalscorer – but his price tag and the likely competition we’d face for his signature could prove to be an issue should we pursue him this summer.

Here’s him in action:
